Automated Text Diacritization and Emotional Recognition in Arabic Video Content

Abstract:

In the first part of the presentation, we will introduce a novel approach for Arabic Text Diacritization framed as Mask Language Modeling. Then we will introduce the MAVEN, a new model for emotion recognition in Moroccan Videos.

Biography:

Ismail Berrada is an Associated Professor and the Director of Teaching of the School of Computer Science at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University. He obtained: A Post-graduate degree in computer engineering from ENSEIRB, INP Bordeaux, 2002. A Post-graduate diploma (DEA) in Parallel Computing (HPC) from the U. of Bordeaux 1, 2002. PhD degree in Computer Science from the University Bordeaux 1, 2005.

He worked for several years as an Assistant Professor (Maitre de conferences) at the University of La Rochelle and Associated Professor at the University Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah, Fez. His research interests are mainly focused on the application of AI techniques for Intelligent Transport System (ITS), Automatic Processing of the Arabic language and its dialects (NLP) in the context of social media mining (profiling, deception detection, fake news, sentiment analysis, humor, sarcasm, offensive language detection), and recently AI for Cybersecurity (Malware detection, URL Phishing, and intrusion detection systems IDS).

His work has led to several publications in the top conferences and journals (NAACL, SemEval, IEEE Trans ITS). He has served as a TPC member of several international journals and conferences (GLOBCOM'2023, ICC'2022) and has co-organized IEEE RAWSN'2015, and IEEE WINCOM'2016, and he is the executive chair of IEEE IWCMC'2023.
